In this course, we will share our years of knowledge and experience and also we will show you the correct techniques and mechanics so that you can create large installations with a wow factor.
We will discuss some mechanics for floral columns, chandeliers, large urn arrangements, and suspended installation. We will use an abundance of and a selection of the best flowers and foliages to design them.
We will help you tailor design and arrangements to your own client’s needs.
Some creative images will be captured by a photographer for you to use in your portfolio.
This course caters well to people who have some prior experience of working with flowers or with prior floristry opportunities.
WHEN AND WHERE?
This 3 days intensive course will take place at our studio in Glaston, Rutland, LE15 9FE on the 11th, 12th, 13th of September 2023.

3 DAYS MASTERCLASS
DAY 1 - Giant Urns & Large Fireplace Decoration
In the morning, we will focus on foam-free giant urns.
We will explain the techniques as well as talk you through the importance of selecting the appropriate flowers, suitable for a design brief.
By using particular flowers, foliage, and plant material, we will explore how we can use these to create movement and dimension in our designs. We will also discuss how to scale your design appropriately so that all stems are placed within any water-retaining item.
In the afternoon we will show you how to plan and design an impressive, styled fireplace decoration.
DAY 2 - Large Moongate & Free Standing Floral Column
In the morning we will talk you through the many possible design options for the moongate.
We will teach you the importance of using the right vessels and safe mechanics, in order for you to maximise your design and capture the flowers at their best.
Whilst on this course, we will use a circular iron structure (moongate), the techniques we teach can be transferred and used for any type of installation, i.e. arches and doorways.
In the afternoon, we will focus on creating a stunning oversized foam-free free-standing floral column.
DAY 3 - Super-Sized Suspended Installation
A popular request for weddings, hanging installations come in all shapes and sizes.
We will show you our sustainable methods of how best to create a suspended design. We will discuss the importance of using secure mechanics and the appropriate flowers to make this and subsequent installations a wonderful and flourishing success.

THE DETAILS…
Classes start at 10am and finish at 4.30pm
Refreshments will be provided.
By the end of day two, you will feel confident and ready to tackle any large-scale work.
We will source the best seasonal flowers and foliage and where possible use British-grown flowers.
Floristry Techniques – as a sustainable flower school, we are completely foam-free and strive to minimise our negative impact on the environment at every opportunity.
All methods taught in the course will be done so in a sustainable way as much as possible.
During the course, there will be time to talk about any individual projects that you may have coming up.

There will also be time to style your work and take photos in order to get some good images for your portfolio.
Depending on the size of the arrangement and the time taken to complete, you will be working in a group.
